All our classes use positive reinforcement training. Our instructors will show you how to use the positive reinforcement techniques to teach your dog good behaviors. Our methods get amazing results that last and the best thing is you never have to hurt, harm, or intimidate your dog to get behaviors.
Bay De Noc Kennel Club is an all volunteer organization. We teach and are involved in the dog world for the love of dogs and the sport. Our instructors have over a hundred years of combined experience in the training of a variety of dogs, from Toys to the Working breeds, pure bred to mixed breeds. Our instructors have earned thousands of titles and awards in Obedience, Agility, Conformation, Scent work, Tracking, and Hunting with their dogs. Many have practical experience in breeding and showing of pure breed dogs as well as being involved in Rescue and Shelter dogs.

We know about your hectic schedule. We also know the only way you truly understand your dog is by practicing it in a real environment. This is why we’ve have a training area that has a fully padded floor, safe equipment with rubberized contacts. All the equipment meets the AKC, UKC, CPE, and NADAC requirements.
In addition to our main training building, we also have a smaller building, and a 160 by 90 foot outdoor turf area for practice and trials. The main building has a 60 by 80 foot training and practice area, with a kennel area. The ‘Annex’ has a 32 by 22 foot training and meeting area with an adjacent 21 by 10 food service room.

I have been involved in organized dog sports for over 20 years and have had the extreme pleasure of being a team with German Shepherd Dogs, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Australian Shepherds and mixed breed dogs. I have titled dogs in Obedience, Rally Obedience, Conformation, Drafting, and Agility.
However, agility is my greatest passion. With the help of my extremely athletic Bernese Mountain Dog, Kinsey, I fell in love with all the sport offered, competing at the highest levels with her and achieving national rankings. I have participated in several agility venues, including CPE, AAC, USDAA, and AKC over 10 years. Competing has led me to earn MACHs (Master Agility Championships) on two dogs, most recently with my current teammate, Toro (Australian Shepherd). As fun as competing is, it is teaching agility that is my true love! I very much enjoy helping up-and-coming teams develop and hone their skills and confidence. I love watching students celebrate new levels of ability with their dog partners!!

Multiple UKC Agility High in Trial (Golden Retriever)
Pat has been fascinated by dogs since childhood. However, she did not become involved in training until she got a Weimaraner puppy “Bo”, a.k.a. “the puppy from hell”. Taking a basic obedience class helped her to be able to teach her puppy what he needed to know to be a good companion. It also introduced Pat to competitive obedience and other dog sports, as well as dog training. She added a rescue from the Animal Shelter (a young English Setter) and began training her for obedience and agility. Eventually 3 more shelter/rescue dogs (all Golden Retrievers) were adopted over the years. Working with rescues, and their behavioral issues, made clear to her the limitations of the force-based, punishment-focused training methods then in use. At a training seminar, Pat was introduced to the concept of reward-based training, i.e., using positive re-enforcement and behavior modification to teach dogs. Learning how dogs learn and using training methods that made sense to the dog made a huge difference in working through behavioral problems and ended in building bonds based on trust, allowing them to excel in a variety of dog sports and life in general.
Pat currently lives and competes with 2 dogs: Finn, an 11 year old Golden Retriever (and the last of the 4 rescues) and, Chica, a 4 year old Australian Shepherd. In addition to teaching classes, Pat is also an accredited AKC Canine Good Citizen and S.T.A.R. Puppy evaluator.
Chris has been doing agility for 11 years, her favorite sport. She currently has 4 Miniature American Shepherds; Izzy is now 11 years old and retired. Zip is now 9 years old and semi-retired. LahDeeDah is 5 years old and is in her prime, her favorite thing to do is agility. Calvin is 6 months old and in training.
Ernie and Lori have over 40 years’ experience training, breeding, and showing dogs in a variety of different breeds. Both have owned and loved dogs as family pets their entire lives. They teach classes in Conformation, Obedience, and Agility. They enjoy sharing their experience and teach as a team using innovative and time-tested, positive training methods. They incorporate techniques learned from numerous instructors and seminars. Whatever your personal goal is with your dog, being a good family member or going on to competition, they emphasize a foundation in basic skills be at the core of your relationship.
Ernie and Lori are retired and currently show Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Japanese Chin, and most recently a Miniature American Shepherd in Conformation, Obedience, Rally, and Agility in AKC, UKC, CPE, and NADAC. Lori is a licensed AKC CGC Evaluator which tests dogs for STAR Puppy, CGC, and Trick Dog titles. Their dogs have been recognized in the AKC Breed ring as well as multiple group placements and awards over the years. They have put multiple Obedience, Rally, and Agility titles on their dogs.
Andrea has owned and competed with German Shorthaired Pointer for nearly 30 years. She has titled her dogs in a variety of things, including Hunt Tests, Tracking, Obedience, Rally Obedience, Weightpull, Lure Coursing, Dock Diving and Conformation, but her passion remains Agility. During the past 25 years of competing in agility she has achieved a multitude of titles with her dogs of past and present in a multitude of venues including UKC, AKC, and NADAC. She has also attended many agility seminars instructed by some of the worlds top competitors.
